Longhorn Beef
Our herd of English Longhorns have been steadily growing each year and we now have 35, with 12 expecting calves spring 2024. A heritage breed these cows have a small frame, well suited to eating a diet of 100% grass, growing slowy giving the meat a rich taste with good fat covering. The herd spend the harshest of the winter months inside eating hay made from the river meadows and return to the pastures with their calves in the spring. We mob graze throughout the spring and summer, moving the herd daily to cover every inch of the species rich river meadows. In return they regenerate the soil, feeding back their nutritent rich manure which the dung beetles, insects, and worms process and drag back into the soil, providing nutrients to the roots and other living organisms. We don't treat our grasslands with any chemicals. All the beef we sell in the shop is from our own herd which we sell nose to tail. We have the highest regard and pride in our animals which we show respect and gratitude to every step of their life.
